warning. this post is basically responses to the comments left in the last post. and thats about it. so if you havent read the previous comments, and/or you dont care about matt, the white stripes, the flaming lips, music in general, new years eve, chris' sister deirdre, bad tv, chris, liz, sickness, jimmy johns, lettuce, the holidays, yoga, low carb brownies, football, chris' brother brendan, broadcasting careers, or shutouts, well then maybe you dont want to continue reading this post. just so ya know.
ok matt....you were there. you were at the internationally gossiped about white/von bondie fight. was it that bad that you've really lost ALL respect for jack? maybe he had a really great reason for beating the shit out of him. and even if not, hes still the best damn guitar player of our generation. and a musical genuis. for real.
and should a rock stars personal life really have that large of an effect on how much you like their music? should it have any effect at all? i mean if you werent there, and if you were living under a rock and didnt know it happened, you'd still think he was the best ever, right? and when he picks up his guitar next week, it wont sound any different than it did last month will it? i mean, you can think hes a dick, but his music can still kick ass cant it? plus, need i remind you that you love meg and her dirty hair. she didnt punch anyone did she?
and even if you dont want to see the stripes anymore, i beg you not to forget its a double bill with the flaming lips, who, in my well seasoned opinion, put on THE MOST fun show ever. ever!!!
so, please, matt...take it back. take back your comment. you're breakin my heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
deirdre-does chris make fun of you for watching bad shows too????? do i really even have to ask that question???? hes the self proclaimed tv programming authority of the universe. luckily, you probably avoid most or all of the taunting being in jersey. i however encounter it on an almost constant basis. yay for me!
liz-feel better. colds suck. ive got the super size bag of munchies classic mix all ready to go. see ya sunday.
i ate a sub from jimmy johns today at our holiday work party that was inside of a lettuce wrap instead of being in a bun. it was interesting. not very filling. and didnt hold its shape at all. i wouldnt recommend it.
im officially on xmas vacation.
i went to yoga tonight.
for dinner i ate some of blain ensleys favorite new receipe, its for turkey lasagne.
for dessert, made some low carb brownies.
now im watching the university of delaware/colgate college championship football game. chris' brother brendan is doing play by play. we're watching the game on espn 2 and listening to him call it on the internet. another misguided soul pursuing a broadcasting career. he sounds great tho. university of delaware just won 40 to nothing.

finally something of worth in the pollstar listings!
damien rice, st. andrews, 4-25-03
they might be giants, some summer festival appearance in ann arbor, 7-3-04
damien rice won the shortlist music prize this year (beat out the likes of bright eyes, sigur ros, interpol, the streets, the black keys and so on) and hes an irish singer/songwriter. ive read comparisons to david gray and jeff buckley, which arent completely wrong, but arent exactly right either. its just really pretty music. really really pretty music about love and loss and the like. and theres this girl who sings with him and someone who plays the chello in some of the songs...its very melancholy, romantic, dreamy. i always love the addition of strings to the modern tunes. and the harmonica too for that matter (when done properly of course) i dont own his album 'o' but i have downloaded most of the songs and well...im excited to go and see him live in april.
and july is far away, but they might be giants put on a fun show. chris' favorite band. if were still living here at that point well surely be heading to ann arbor for some shopping food and they might be giants goodness.
man that seems to be so far away.
probably because it is.
went and saw elf yesterday. not quite what i expected. much more of a kids 'feel-good' kinda story than i had anticipated, but still rather enjoyable. nice way to get into the holiday spirit.
one week till christmas! one week till christmas!
im done with my shopping. all of it. and most of my wrapping too.
maybe i should work on the website a little. ive been neglecting it, mostly because chris hogs the computer and i dont really have time. hopefully there'll be some updates soon. and on a more regular basis.
and just 2 weeks to the big new years show!!! hope jack white doesnt jump off the stage and start beating random people up!
does anybody watch ed anymore? dont. its awful. its like theyre making it up as they go along.
abc's line of fire has yet to dissapoint. ditto for my new haircut.

answer: shopping shopping shopping and my grandmas surprise 70th birthday party in jackson. question: what has amber been doing over the last few days?
the christmas shopping is coming very close to being finished. very very close. theres been a bit of a slowdown because theres only one car between chris and i right now, but this time its not my car thats the problem. its scary when the 92 cavalier is the reliable car in the 'household'. but hopefully the nissan dealership will hop to it and figure out what is causing his car to not want to start and we'll be back to a 2 car household real quick-like.
and the surprise party was fun. alot of driving though. my aunt lives in a gorgeous house, but its in the middle of nowhere. saw grandma and grandpa for the first time in about a year or so, and other out of town relatives. my uncles are all nuts. but i understand why my dad is the way he is way better after spending time with a bunch of my crazy uncles. fun. but totally insane. i
overall, it was nice. ate too much food. and even had some dessert. bad amber. bad bad amber. i think i gained like 15 pounds in that one day. i blame my aunt sheryl and her yummy frosted mini-muffins. muffin-licious!!!! oh, and the carrot cake was pretty damn good too.
looks like bush has secured his re-election with the capture of saddam.
does anyone go and see movies on christmas day. i think i might this year. big fish, the new tim burton movie comes out. what else is there to do after all the presents are opened. our family does our big get together celebration on christmas eve(at my parents house)...so after about 10 am xmas morning, the fun is over.
this post composed while watching : the screen savers

i happened upon the billboard music awards last night at just the right time. dave grohl and triumph the insult comic dog up at the mic cracking some major jokes. it was harsh. it was great. making fun of everyone from paris hilton to britney to ryan seacrest to michael jackson to madonna to the american idol kids. pure genius. no holds barred insults. spectacular. and it went on and on and on and on. look for outtakes of the jokes in the quote of the day section on the site over the next few days. it renewed my faith in awards shows. ok, not really. we changed the channel as soon as it was over. but for 5 minutes it was great!

so yea, my money is all spent. well, not all, but a good deal of it. 150ish at the salon yesterday (cut color highlight shampoo conditioner and holiday sized tip for my stylist). 50 bucks at the gap on what will hopefully be the best pair of black pants in the universe, 30 at american eagle for a pair of jeans that isnt too long on me, 10(on sale from 40) at parisian on a black shirt (like i really needed another black shirt they say!) 12 on the postal service album at best buy, and 20 (on sale from 50)on a kick ass pair of really cool blue shoes. i also purchased about 40 worth of xmas presents. thats about 310. easy come easy go.
i like shopping. i really like shopping. and theres nothing like paying cash for your purchases. after what feels like forever of charging EVERYTHING, it feels great to pay in cash. i want to be rich. i dont want to own 50 pairs of jeans or 100 pair of shoes, i dont want to spend 1500 dollars on a purse or pair of shoes, but it would be nice to have the option. wouldnt it?
they say money doesnt buy happiness, but my hair looks great (it always does for the first couple days after the salon visit), and my jeans arent three feet too long and my ass looks pretty good in my new black pants (if i do say so myself). id say im pretty happy at least in some part due to the spendage of the poker winnings. not that i wasnt happy before, but its definitely been kicked up a notch in the last 2 days.
man i sound like a spoiled bratty girly girl.(or a fabulously fashionable gay man) i swear, im not. really. except for the whole liking to shop thing. and the shoes. i have a pretty big weakness for the shoes.
theres nothing more fun than imaging what you would do with your money if you won the lottery. and i think what you could do for others would be so much better than what you could do for yourself. but it would fun. maybe i should go out and get a lottery ticket. a couple of them. or at least i could play some more poker and win some more money. anyone interested?

so i had a good weekend. good weekend. spent saturday in ann arbor shopping and eating yummy food. urban outfitters is a great store. a little pricey, but a great store anyhow. why there isnt one in the detroit metro area is beyond me. of course you could order from the website or the catalog, but id much rather actually shop there. and after the shopping and eating was the poker. we went to the home of co-worker terri's and her husbands house right outside of ann arbor. the cast of characters was me, chris, albert (co-worker), terri, her husband ron, and terris friend julie. 6 of us. long story short, i was the BIG winner of the night, taking home somewhere around 400 bucks. me. a poker player. who knew. at one point i had to risk losing 240 in order to win that much, but obviously it worked out in my favor. when it came down to risking that amount of money, i almost hyperventilated, peed my pants and passed out at the same time. but i didnt, and i won, and now i have all this money. ive got more cash on me now than i have ever before in my life. feels pretty good. but poor chris, its mostly his money, and he still owes me a hundred and forty on top of it.
so i went out shopping a little today, mostly christmas presents, , but i did splurge and got myself some new unmentionables, so i cant mention them here, and 1 new cd. i woulda got more, except i was at best buy and their prices are ridiculous, so i just got one that was somewhat reasonably priced. its the postal service album. feat. ben gibbard from death cab for cutie. love it already.
more later....must go to don pablos for buy one get one free fajitas with chris. my treat of course.
