the city where cool comes from
Monday, 12 February 2007

this is really really REALLY funny...i can't believe i didnt come across this article sooner:

Detroit is cool – or at least that’s what the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau would have you believe.

The convention group uneiled a new brand marketing campaign “The City Where Cool Comes From” this afternoon to about 400 tourism, hospitality and civic leaders at it’s annual meeting at the Detroit Opera House.

The marketing strategy will focus on the five major areas that make metro Detroit cool – cars, culture, gaming, music and sports. The group said a region can’t be all things to everyone, so it’s targeting 21- to 34-year-olds with its new branding message because they’re not swayed by negative perceptions of Detroit, they know what cool is and they will be around to pass the message on to future generations.

ha! could nothing be more appropriate? morrissey already has his gravesite picked out

"So after the band stopped in 2000, it was very much a 'Gee, I'm glad that's over' kind of thing. I think we all needed a rest. We'd say that we 'parked' the band, and I always thought that was a good way of saying it, because we'll probably revisit the band sometime in the future. God knows when, but it'd be too much fun not to." check out 2 good rob dickinson interviews: here and here

2007, the year of the reunion
Friday, 02 February 2007

for many of my friends 2007 is a big year - 10 year class reunion time.  i know the ball is already rolling on the planning of ours.  im a little freaked about it.  im been thinking a lot about how much more i need to hit the gym to be in super tip-top condition for said event.  you know thats the reason that 90 percent of people go to these things, to see whos gotten fat, so they can feel better about themselves. and if something goes horribly wrong in my life and i pack on the pounds in the next 6 months(oh dear god please dont let that happen), i will most definitely not be attending.

i know, i know, im a horrible shallow vein human being.

at least i wont have turned out like the valedictorian on the show 'in case of emergency'.  oh wait, im pretty sure nobody watches that show.  she works at a massage parlor.  the kind that gives happy endings.  but at least she's super hot.
