so this weekend was my first big event with EQX...river street fest in troy new york. we had live tunes from last november, mink, stars of track and field and they might be giants. today we just announced another free concert with the cracker, the lemonheads, the fratellis and the clicks. you can read all about it here. my job is so cool.
hopefullly will have pics from this weekend up before the snow starts falling. this whole not having internet where i lay my head at night is not fun.
things im digging right now:
a new song from the afghan whigs called im a soldier. its on their new (ish) retrospective unbreakable.
marc ronson's album version - its a bunch of really well done, interesting, catch you off guard covers/remixes including phantom planet doing radiohead's just, kenna doing ryan adam's amy, a cool version of kasabian's lsf, and a medely of the smiths stop me with daniel marriweather on vocals....theres also a really funky instrumental version of a coldplay song with a super fun horn section. you will love it. i think its out next month. check out a preview here
white stripes icky thump. im listening to it right now on repeat. repeat. repeat. repeat.
an ep from sea wolf called 'get to the river before it runs too low'. understated. creeps up on you. check out 'you're a wolf' first.
im sure there's more but im in overload at the moment...i hope to have an update of good stuff every week...so stay tuned!

made it safely up to Vermont on Wednesday night and I start on the morning show at 6am Monday. If you feel like getting up bright and early you can listen online at weqx.com. Yesterday we just announced EQX Fest - a big ol show we're putting on on July 30th with 311, Matisyahu, Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, Tom Morello's The Nightwatchmen, TV on the Radio, Shiny Toy Guns, The Urgency and a bunch of cool local bands! It's all a little surreal....my life today is NOTHING like my life was on Monday...but it's gonna be good.
i have no internet access where im staying right now, but hope to have that remedied soon...
More on my adventures as I get a little more settled in....

as far as i can tell there are no target stores in the state of vermont. thats dissapointing.
im thinking about making giant playlist for my 12-13 hour roadtrip. but i cant really make a 'vermont' mix. far as i know sufjan stevens hasnt gotten that far. im open to creative suggestions. the plan, though subject to change, has me departing first thing wednesday morning.
i left my cell phone at home today. this irks me. it would be a really bad day to get a flat tire on the way back from raleigh.
rented children of men last night. if i had three thumbs id give it three thumbs up. worth it for michael cane alone. best viewed while set to the soundtrack of year zero.

waaaaay back in january i posted this question on rob dickinson's myspace page after he solicited for fan inquiries: 'if money and logistics weren't an issue, and you could put together
the ultimate dream band to record and tour with, who would the members
of that band be?' i abandoned my first impulse of asking 'will you marry me' as it was probably a little
too obvious.
today i get a response:
"Now that’s a good question. On bass John Paul Jones, on keyboards Tim
Friese-Greene, on drums Lee Harris, on guitar Graham Coxon"
1 part led zepplin + 2 parts talk talk + 1 part blur + rob = something id like to see!
