update from vermonttt
Saturday, 02 June 2007

made it safely up to Vermont on Wednesday night and I start on the morning show at 6am Monday. If you feel like getting up bright and early you can listen online at weqx.com. Yesterday we just announced EQX Fest - a big ol show we're putting on on July 30th with 311, Matisyahu, Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, Tom Morello's The Nightwatchmen, TV on the Radio, Shiny Toy Guns, The Urgency and a bunch of cool local bands! It's all a little surreal....my life today is NOTHING like my life was on Monday...but it's gonna be good.

i have no internet access where im staying right now, but hope to have that remedied soon...

More on my adventures as I get a little more settled in....

as far as i can tell there are no target stores in the state of vermont.  thats dissapointing.

im thinking about making giant playlist for my 12-13 hour roadtrip.  but i cant really make a 'vermont' mix.  far as i know sufjan stevens hasnt gotten that far.  im open to creative suggestions. the plan, though subject to change, has me departing first thing wednesday morning.

i left my cell phone at home today.  this irks me.  it would be a really bad day to get a flat tire on the way back from raleigh.

rented children of men last night.  if i had three thumbs id give it three thumbs up.  worth it for michael cane alone. best viewed while set to the soundtrack of year zero.

to better know a rob part deux
Thursday, 24 May 2007

waaaaay back in january i posted this question on rob dickinson's myspace page after he solicited for fan inquiries: 'if money and logistics weren't an issue, and you could put together the ultimate dream band to record and tour with, who would the members of that band be?' i abandoned my first impulse of asking 'will you marry me' as it was probably a little too obvious.

today i get a response:

"Now that’s a good question. On bass John Paul Jones, on keyboards Tim Friese-Greene, on drums Lee Harris, on guitar Graham Coxon"

1 part led zepplin + 2 parts talk talk + 1 part blur + rob = something id like to see!

packing isnt all that fun
Wednesday, 23 May 2007

went out into our storage area today to retreive all of our containers and boxes...encountered more dirt and bugs and gross stuff than id really like to admit.  so after hosing down all of the containers, and setting them out to dry in the sun i was finally able to start some packing.  it goes a little something like this:

but im trying to keep this in mind...

amber went and got herself a job
Tuesday, 22 May 2007

I've accepted the position of Music Director and morning show co-host at WEQX in Manchester, Vermont.  It's a totally unique, totally independent alternative station, and it's pretty much my dream job.  It's considered to be a part of the Albany, NY market, but the signal covers 4 states.  And, yes, they stream online too...weqx.com

I'll be heading up there by the end of next week.  The current plan of action is that I'll be renting a room or studio apt. for a few months while Chris finishes up a project here in Fayetteville and then we'll make the full-on move.

I spent a few days up there at the beginning of the month and it's an adorable little town that apparently has world class skiing and golf.  Neither of which I've ever done before...but I guess I could learn! It's different from Fayetteville in every way, shape and form....and that is definitely a plus!

A job like this is why I got into radio in the first place...I couldn't be happier!

More updates as I get up there and get settled!

it's official!

ive been listening to the national's new album on aol music and it is unbelievably good. dark. mysterious. and the vocals are incredible.  it comes out tomorrow.  i must have it.

not so very impressed with the new bravery.  its yawn-inducing on first listen.  maybe itll grow on me.
