finally finished unpacking today. vacations are exhausting. our place is a filth-hole and ive been trying little by little to remedy that situation. but the tivo keeps tempting me with its week and a half worth of backlogged material. and then theres the extra hours of time i gotta set aside for baseball (go tigers!). i know, i know, poor me. im also in the process of sampling the new tunes i acquired on this trip. thanks everybody! currently: the kooks
when i started this here blog im pretty sure i had a few things i wanted to cover, but ive forgotten them all. guess its time to sit down for some tigers and some lost!
ill hopefully have trip/wedding pics up in the next coupla days.
whats this i hear about the possibility of SNOW SHOWERS on friday when i land in detroit? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
seriously, it's the 2nd week of october. stupid weather.
i read a book yesterday. a whole entire book. consumed a full 270 pages. stayed up till almost 3am. its been a long time since ive read a book cover to cover in a week, let alone in a singular 24 hour period. but i was sucked in. i couldnt stop. i love when that happens. its called second hand, written by a dude from detroit (and set in detroit with lots of local references) about a 2nd hand/hipster store and the art of 'junking'. to say i enjoyed it would be a serious understatement. ive always had a thing for thrift stores/garage sales/flea markets/treasure hunting. the description on the inside cover calls it the high fidelity of garage sales, the on the road of thrift shopping. totally accurate. so good. unfortunately, i just googled the author, michael zadoorian, and it appears that this is his one and only novel.
im slightly freaking out about packing. not only do i have a gigantic bridesmaid dress to worry about transporting safely, its now fall/winter time(see above) and those clothes(sweaters, pants, jackets, boots) take up way more suitcase space than summer clothes (tank tops, skirts, shorts, flip-flops).
i cant believe that theres a baseball game on my tv and i actually care whats going on (go tigers!)
nip/tuck is on deck on the tivo. julian mcmahon. mmmmmm.
joseph arthur will be on letterman on tuesday night. guess that'll have to do since i missed the live show. he is also scheduled to appear
on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on Wednesday,
November 8th.
i also just learned that joseph arthur had a hand in the twilight singers album powder burns, and that there is a new twilight singers ep coming out on the 10th(via itunes) that features a song co written by j.a. and greg dulli called sublime, and j.a. also does guest vocals on it. nice!
gomez, who have been all over abc promos for greys anatomy and what about brian as of late, will be on conan tomorrow night.
the tigers are well on their way to ruining autumn and andys wedding!
my favorite canadians the tragically hip have a new album coming out on the 17th.
courtesy of the boston herald: The Tigers enter their first playoff appearance since 1987 with the momentum
of a wobbly rickshaw being pulled up Blue Hill by a one-legged chain
smoker.
just booked my flight home...ill be landing at metro on friday the 13th(slightly unnerving) at 2:30pm-ish. im actually flying this time. thank god. thats 2 weeks from today. chris also got his tix and hes arriving on the afternoon of the 19th (thursday). we leave monday morning the 23rd. im sure that this trip is going to seem super short...10 days compared to 3 or 4 weeks the last couple times. be on the lookout for cool stuff to do during that time. tuesday the 17th is whitestripes/interpol/strokes video appreciation night at luna. sounds like good times.
yesterday i drove the hour and a half to raleigh (durham actually) to do some shopping at a 'good mall' (cuz really, what else do i have to do). went specifically to find something to wear to aut's rehersal and/or jackies wedding and/or chris' cousin's wedding. i tried on about a zillion dresses with no luck. i got lots of other stuff that i probably didnt really need tho. when i was in the last store, dsw, the power went out. i think it was a sign. to stop shopping. so i did.
for those that are goin-have fun at joseph arthur monday. ill be sitting at home on the couch sobbing.
the charleston trip was great. way too short, but great. what a cool city. i could so live there. i went around hugging palm trees all day monday, thats how much i liked it there.
gomez put on an awesome show...unfortunately the camera batteries died and we didnt realize it until it was too late. did get some pics of the city on monday, ill get around to posting em all at some point.
check out gomez on leno tomorrow night. you wont be sorry.
im in tv overload. trying to watch as many of the new shows as i can to see if theyre worthy of a coveted spot on the tivo season pass list.
aut's wedding is exactly one month from today. which means i should be rolling back into detroit in about 3 1/2 weeks. anything good going on btwn the 14th and 27th that i should be around for so i can plan accordingly? and yes, chris will be making a rare appearance in the D as well. more details to come.
