i have mixed feelings about fall. its beautiful and all - especially in vermont - but it means winters not very far behind - and the winters here are long and cold. fall is like the sunday of the seasons - even though its kickass because its part of the weekend, you cant help but feeling a little anxious and sad with monday (or winter) lurking around the corner. i don't HATE winter - but im not crazy about it - thank god im enjoying the whole skiing thing. but i digress - fall - one really kick ass thing about fall: pumpkin beer. ive tried 5 different varities so far this year: weyerbacher imperial pumpkin ale smuttynose pumpkin ale shipyard pumpkinhead ale southern tier pumking post road pumpkin ale my favorite is the shipyard - something about the balance of spices is just perfect - it's not too heavy - really drinkable - funny that it got bad reviews - maybe my palate isnt very sophisticated. doesnt make me enjoy it any less. i also recall brown's having a particularly yummy pumpkin ale - need to get over there soon. enjoying a pumpkinhead right now - think im gonna go dig out the halloween decorations from the attic. would it be overkill if i were to be listening to the smashing pumpkins while i did it? nah, im gonna stick with spiritualized "amazing grace"
