saw a really good movie this weekend on the sundan... Print E-mail

saw a really good movie this weekend on the sundance channel (or it may have been ifc or bravo). called waydowntown. 4 co-workers bet that they can stay indoors for the longest amount of time. which isnt really difficult because their whole downtown area is connected by a maze of underground walkways, so they can easily get from home to work to shopping and the like without having to go outdoors. but they start to go crazy. worrying about the indoor air being contaminated, headaches, hallucinations, not being able to go without sex. its kind of a cross between office space and what i imagine donnie darko is probably like. definitely worth hunting down if you're looking for a good movie.

and yesterday i watched the movie altered states on dvd. it was a really good movie as well. about a crazy scientist who is desperate to discover the meaning of life. of the one true self. a very strange, but good movie. lots of hallucination and drugs. im not going to go into it too much, but if you havent seen it you may want to stop reading now, because im going to get into a couple of details.

the guy regresses into the past, both mentally and physically while using some sort of drug he took from an indian ceremony he participated in. he turns into what is supposed to be like the very 1st human(very ape like), and goes on a rampage. the concept is fine, but the rest of the movie is really well done, and when he's running around getting chased by dogs and digging through the garbage, its, well, bad. they could have conveyed the same idea in different manner, and stayed away from the cheese factor. anyhow. really liked the movie. could have done without so much of monkey boy running around town.

so the hard rock cafe opened here in detroit last night. its like we've been baptized as a real city. it brings a tear to my eye. ill probably never go there, but its kinda cool just the same. now if only some more businesses would follow suit, we might actually start to resemble a real city.

if you've never tried scrambled eggs with tomato onion and yellow peppers in them, you're missing out.
