i really hope the smashing pumpkins do get back together someday so i can hear 'starla' live sometime in my lifetime. that song is damn near perfect. all 11 minutes and one second of it. doing the job i do its easy to forget how when music is really good it makes you feel alive. starlas my new 'old' favorite smashing pumpkins song. i guess all smashing pumpkins songs are 'old' now. thats what happens when a band breaks up. all the songs instantly become old when there are no new songs on the horizon to replace them with. sad. kinda like my catherine wheel. though rob dickinson did recently say at a performance: 'i used to be in a band called the catherine wheel. in fact i still may be in a band called the catherine wheel.' which leaves me with little teeny tiny glimmer of hope. not that i can realistically expect that anything a re-formed catherine wheel would create could possibly be as good as the work they've already done. but i sure as hell wouldn't mind seeing them live a couple dozen more times, even having to sit through comparatively mediocre new songs to experience the 'old' ones again. though at this point id settle for a solo rob dickinson tour date located somewhere within in a 5 hour radius. sigh.

so a week later i decide to unpack. im still sick. 150 dollars in medicine later. gotta love health insurance where non-generic perscriptions are 60 bucks each. i am typing this while looking at my super fancy new flat panel monitor thanks to mr. chris boylan. my news years resolution to spend less and save more was going really well till 8pm yesterday. my new years resolution to spend more time at the gym and less time on the couch has been put on hold temporarily until im feeling better. actually im meeting with trainer lady tomorrow to try to get back in the swing of things.
anybody buy the new strokes yet? any good? think im gonna go buy it on itunes. (actually i wont be spending any money because i currently have 20 credits on my account)
gotta get up early tomorrow. 7 am. thats early for me. guess that means its about bedtime. that is all for now. am

im watching coldplays austin city limits performance (running on pbs, check it out). they bring up michael stipe to perform a couple songs with them and the first song they do is a cover/reintrepretation of joseph arthur's 'in the sun'. which would have been the ultimate musical trifecta if they hadnt butchered the song. ok they didnt butcher it, but you just dont mess with anything off of 'come to where im from'.
