so i went to best buy and picked up the new flaming lips and morrissey yesterday. i was really excited about the lips album after listening to the first 2 songs. my brain couldnt comprehend the level of greatness this album could possibly reach based on the sheer weirdness/wonderfulness of the first 2 tracks. unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. with the exception of the w.a.n.d.
i do appreciate however that the lips have some of the most ridiculous song titles ever.

on another musical note, i can't get over the fact that the members of my favorite ex-band catherine wheel are all still making music, just not together. and whats obviously missing from 50 ft. monster(brian/neil ex-c.w.guitar/drums)is a great voice, and whats obviously missing from rob dickinsons solo stuff is the depth and intrest and point of view of a couple other great musicians.
robs solo stuff is ok, but im bored with it. because after a history of making such interesting music, theres not a whole lot there to be excited about. its flat and predictible and besides parts of wishville, catherine wheel was anything but.

as a guitar player who can barely play the basic chords of fleetwood mac's rhiannon at 25 percent of its original speed (i took the song and slowed it waaaaay down in cool edit/audition so i could play along with it) i guess i really dont have too much room to criticize. but dont worry, that wont stop me from doing it.

10 pm on a saturday...guess ill go start some laundry. am i cool or what?!
