after 26 years of flying under the radar, my left hand is finally being called upon to earn its keep, you know, do its part, and its not happy about it AT ALL. its like asking a guy who's 26 who still lives in his parents basement to start doing his own laundry. its gonna be ugly. whites get dyed red, sweaters shrink down to the size of barbie dolls...and you're lucky if the house doesn't burn down because he forgets to clean out the lint trap. my wrist aches, my fingertips hurt, and my stupid pinkie has a mind all of its own. yes, 10 days into my guitar playing venture i have to say that this is WAY harder than i ever expected. i'd like to think that if my hands were a little bit bigger i wouldnt be having quite the hard time i'm having now, but thats probably just makes a difficult task just a teeny bit harder. something else ive realized is that its been a really long time since ive had to, or tried to, learn anything completely from scratch, and ive found that i dont really like the feeling of being horrible at something. at all. even if im just starting out. but i guess thats all the more motivation to practice practice practice and ultimately suck a little less every day. this week i learned g, c and f. f is what i like to call the impossible chord and where bigger hands would most definitely be a bonus. and with this new 'arsenal' of chords ill eventually be able to play at least part of 'sweet child o' mine', which could not be any cooler. i mean, i still can't transition btwn chords worth a crap, but when the day comes (you know, like in the next week or so)that will be the first song i really try to learn to play. cuz you have the cool rockin gnr version, and then the lullaby luna version. this also makes me think that when the weather gets nicer i should try 'learning' something else...running. give it another try. at least there ive got the basics down, one foot in front of the other...ill just have to find a way to get over my hatred for it first. oh yeah, if you havent heard yet, chris got fired on friday.no, no, its ok. its actually a good thing. am
